CORONARY CARE UNIT

The Coronary Care Unit at RCMCH cares for patients with heart attacks, unstable angina, cardiac dysrhythmia and various other cardiac conditions that require continuous monitoring and treatment. Our team consists of Consultants and an expert cardiology medical nursing team. The CCU team works together as part of a multidisciplinary team to aid patient recovery. The aim is to provide a high-quality service in a safe environment where the needs of each patient are cared for in a professional and holistic manner by using all available specialist knowledge and skills. The wellbeing of all our patients relies on appropriate and timely assessment, investigation, treatment and care. The aim is to promote optimum health through good communication, teaching and provision of adequate information.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

All patients attending CCU are admitted through emergency or refferal. The patient will be met by a team consisting cardiologist & nursing team who will monitor the patient from admission to discharge and make sure that they receive the right care during their stay at RCMCH. Our doctors & patient relationship officers will time to time update patient's attendent about medical condition & decision making.

SERVICE PROVIDED

■	Central monitoring
■	ventilator with monitoring facilities for patient’s own breathing effort
■	IV tube for administrating fluids and medications
■	Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) for patients who are unable to have nutrition by mouth
■	Direct-Current (DC) Cardioversion-Defibrillation
